There are springs of encounters and springs of partings…
The beginning of days of pruning overgrown plants.

First up is Brachycum Blasco.
Since I planted it last fall, it has grown thick and crowded.
The flowers were getting smaller and I felt sorry for them, so I decided to comb them out.

Before.
It’s hard to tell from the photo, but it was really packed and packed together.

After. You can’t really tell from the photo, but it looks much cleaner and more airy.

April 4th pruning

If it looks like this, I feel like I need to prune it before the rainy season.
Since it tends to grow thick, I have to be careful not to let the stock sag.

Next is Erica Janome.
The flowers were blooming beautifully, but as the high temperatures continue, they are coming to an end.

Therefore, pruning.
When I got it last spring, it was about 15cm tall, but within a year it had grown to about 70cm, so I cut it down boldly.

This is…,

Like this. Probably a little over 20cm tall.

I was planning to get rid of them this year because they grow quickly and take up space on my small balcony.
I decided to keep it because it bloomed beautifully for a long time.
I don’t know if it’s okay to cut it down this much, but if it doesn’t work, I guess it’s okay.
I’m planning on cleaning up the roots if I feel like it.

Geranium Moonlight ‘Senbaro’ was also growing quite densely, so I decided to trim the leaves.
I don’t have a before photo, but I tried to make sure you could see the soil from above.
Because it is a healthy and sturdy plant, it may need some care to remove excess.

When I learned that I could cut back the nemophila that had grown so long, I immediately tried it.
This is what it looked like…

It’s just like this.

April 12th pruning

Well, seasons are seasons, so if it doesn’t work, it won’t work, and I hope this will be a lesson that I can use next year.
It looks weak with its soft stems, but it’s quite strong, so I wonder what will happen to it.
I’ll keep an eye on it for a while.

Lastly, there’s Gazania, which I’ve been curious about for a long time.
The water drains quickly and it’s densely packed, so I wanted to clean it up.

Before is like this. The last time I replanted it was probably the year before last.

I thought the pot would be too small, but I didn’t want to make it big, so I decided to organize the plants.
When I removed the pot from the pot, the roots were wrapped around the bottom of the stone net about 3cm thick.

After struggling for a while, it looked like this.

April 13th pruning

Pretty refreshing.

Even if I do this, I’m sure it will grow back soon.
Well, it’s okay because I wanted to do it and it felt refreshing.

So, this is probably the end of spring pruning. The next one will probably be before the rainy season.
If I keep accumulating it, I’ll end up overdoing it, so I’m going to keep an eye on it and take care of it carefully.
