Sanbritainia wintering 2023-2024
Thankfully, there seem to be a lot of people visiting my blog for “Overwintering in Sanbritainia,” so I thought I’d write about what’s been going on this winter.

Well, my Sambritenia scarlet has grown thick since autumn after summer.

After that, it bloomed properly, but I didn’t take any photos, so I don’t have any proof.
It has been in full bloom for a long time and has been very spectacular.

It was still warm in Osaka even in December, so the flowers continued to bloom even if I left them outside at night.
Eventually, the number of yellow leaves increased and the number of flowers decreased.

I heard that a big cold wave is coming after the winter solstice, so I decided to cut it off and put it in the house at that time.
Although there were many withered leaves at the tips of the branches that had grown rapidly, there were many new shoots coming out from the base, so I inserted the scissors right above them.

There is an oxalis growing in the pot, but I haven’t pulled it out for a reason.
I’ve also been growing them completely without pesticides or fertilizers since October or November, and they bloom well without any insects.
I plan to write another article about this.

All I had to do was leave it inside the house, separated by a windowpane on the balcony, and my work over the winter was over.
Since it’s winter, the pot becomes lighter, so after a few days I water it on a warm day, and now I’m just waiting for spring.

I’m sure it will bloom a lot next year, so I’m looking forward to seeing that bright red color again.
Ah, I can’t wait for spring to come!
