my christmas rose
I’ve been wanting to write an article about my Christmas roses for a long time.
At the end of last spring, the flowers of the flowering stock were pruned for a bargain price of 300 yen? Obtained at.
I didn’t know what kind of flowers they would bloom, and it was my first time growing Christmas roses, so I was looking forward to seeing them bud.
After summer, I found the long-awaited buds this New Year. A month and a half has passed since then.
Let’s start with a happy discovery.
I was observing Osaka, where the spring weather continues, wondering if the flowers are about to bloom.

When I lifted it up to look at the biggest bud, there was also a swollen bud underneath!

I’m so happy! ! !
After further observation, I found it!

Another bud that I missed! A total of five buds have formed.
Even though I’m a novice at Christmas roses and I’m just giving up on flowering plants, I can’t believe they’ve produced so many flowers all summer long.
I was very happy and grateful.
In the first place, when I got it, there were only 4 to 5 leaves in a small pot,
When I planted it in a deep #6 plastic pot, it was so sparse that I thought the pot might be too big.
But now it’s growing properly and looking good.

This is what the inside of the stock looks like. In the foreground is a group of buds.

It grows in a bush, and I can probably divide it into 3 plants by visual inspection.

What I would like to point out is that there are two types of leaves.
The upper part is a normal leaf, and the lower part is a stiff, crunchy leaf that looks like it doesn’t have much water.

I couldn’t find anything about this leaf on the internet or in books.
Actually, I was thinking of getting rid of it if it didn’t work, but
It produced a lot of buds, so I think it was a good thing.
As a point of reflection on how I was raised,
It has started to look like gray mold, so watering should be done more sparingly at this time.
On the other hand, I didn’t water it too much in the summer, so I’m planning to give it more water and move it to a place with better ventilation.
I guess that’s about it. I’m thinking about stock splitting next year.
When it blooms like this, it helps to take care of it.
We want to have a long-term relationship, so let’s cherish it.
